Book-to-Movie News: “Let It Snow” and “Looking for Alaska”

Yes, it’s a great time to be a John Green fan. Two new John Green adaptations have premiered in the past month. On October 18th, Hulu broadcast its premier season of the TV adaptation of Looking for Alaska (2005), the novel which first propelled John Green to YA fame. With all eight episodes in its first season now available, it’s getting rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.

And on November 8th, Netflix premiered its adaptation of Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances (2008), originally a collaborative short story collection by a trio of YA writing megastars: John Green, Lauren Myracle, and Maureen Johnson. The new romantic comedy adaptation is receiving mostly positive reviews from critics, but mixed reviews from audiences. Find a friend with a Netflix account to stream it and decide for yourself, because we all know that it’s going to be a long time (if ever!) that we see Netflix release it on DVD….
