Book News: The Best YA of 2018

As 2018 comes to a close, it’s time for our annual round-up of the “Best Books” lists. As always, there are a few titles that spring up again and again. Not surprisingly, Tomi Adeyemi’s best-selling Children of Blood and Bone appears on every one of the lists below, as does Jarrett Krosoczka’s graphic novel memoir Hey Kiddo. National Book Award winner Elizabeth Acevedo’s novel-in-verse The Poet X lands on the seven critics’ lists, while the murder mystery Sadie by Courtney Summers shows up on five. Also worth noting are the multiple appearances by Melissa Albert’s dark fairy tale The Hazel Wood and the Harvey Award winning graphic novel The Prince and the Dressmaker. Plenty of great gift ideas here, and plenty of great picks for your own TBR list!
