Tax Help 2021: FAQs

Is AARP offering tax help this year?

Yes! You can make an appointment for AARP’s TaxAide services by calling (207) 798-1564 between 8 am and 5 pm. If you get a recording, leave a message with your name and number and you’ll get a call back within 24 hours. Please do not call the library for an appointment.

How will AARP’s TaxAide work this year?

TaxAide will be by appointment only this year with appointments available on Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday during normal library hours. Additional appointment times may be added on Saturdays. Clients will not be allowed in the library and all transactions will be handled at the curbside area outside the children’s room entrance.

How soon can I get an appointment?

There is no definite start date yet, but once one is settled on the information will be posted on the library’s website at www.patten.lib.me.us. There’s no need to panic though as you still have until April 15th to file.

What else do I need to know?

Visitors to the library are reminded that a number of COVID restrictions are still in effect and will be enforced. Social distancing of six feet should be observed and masks must be worn at all times on library property, except while in your car.

What if I can’t get an appointment with AARP?

There are several other services available to help with tax filing:
