Summer Reading 2022

We’re excited to begin the 2022 Summer Reading season! Join us as we continue developing a daily habit of reading for 15 minutes. Read below for instructions on how to get started.

Who can participate?

Anyone! Everyone! Our summer reading program is for year-round and summer residents of our service area (Arrowsic, Bath, Georgetown, West Bath, or Woolwich) of all ages and/or for any RSU1 student.

When does summer reading start and end this year?

You can start logging your reading on Friday, June 17. The final day to submit any completed logs will be Friday, August 26.

Does it matter what I read?

Nope. Read any format that you like (e.g. print books, ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, graphic novels). The only rule is that you must read for 15 minutes in order to mark a bubble or fish on your log.

How can I start logging my minutes?

  • To log your minutes on paper, pick up a log at the library or download a printable version here (jellyfish) or here (fish). Then, color or date a bubble or fish for every 15 minutes that you read. That’s it!
  • To log your minutes digitally, use our reading platform Beanstack.

How can I submit a completed log?

You can return your log and pick up your prize at either the Children’s Desk or the Reference Desk anytime during our open hours.

How many logs can I submit?

You can submit as many logs as you like.

Who gets a prize?

Any child or young adult (through grade 12) will receive a $5 Renys gift card when they submit their first log at the library. Additionally, each time a participant (of any age!) completes a reading log, they will be entered in our end-of-summer raffle for one of five $25 Gift of Bath cards.

Please note that those participants who participate digitally via Beanstack will receive any prizes for which they qualify via mail.

How will I know if I won a raffle prize?

We will contact the raffle winners on Monday, August 29.

Are there Summer Reading Events?

Yes!  There are events for all ages.  Click here for a list of Children’s Events, here for a printable June calendar, and here to see our complete web calendar.
