Empire of Shadows by Jacquelyn Benson is the first book in the Raiders of the Arcana series. It reads just like any action/adventure movie you’ve ever seen. There is a touch of romance and fantasy, though I would call it mainly historical fiction. A woman archivist/activist who discovers a map and ends up in British Honduras searching for a lost city of legend. She partners with a local land surveyor who knows how to survive the wilderness. There is the usual villain and some tropes, but it’s a fun read, especially for fans of Indiana Jones and similar adventures.
