The Patten Free Library offers free or reduced rate passes to the museums and parks listed below. Visit the Library or call 443-5141 x11 for more information or to reserve a pass.
Children’s Museum & Theater of Maine
The Children’s Museum and Theater of Maine re-opened on June 24 with a timed admission system. The Children’s Room issues passes to Library patrons for a specific date; we can only issue one pass per day. Passes are good for 50% off regular admission price for up to 4 people.
The museum is popular, and confirming the availability of tickets is a key first step. We recommend the following process:
Maine Historical Society Museum
One pass issued for each day the Museum is open. Pass is good for free admission to the Museum for up to 4 people, $5.00 tickets to the Wadsworth-Longfellow House, $5.00 day-use fee to the Research Library, and 10% off in the Museum Store. This pass is generously sponsored by Sagadahoc Preservation, Inc.

One pass issued for each day the Museum is open. Pass is good for free admission for up to 2 adults and 6 children.
Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens
Passes are good for the regular season (May-October) only. No passes will be issued for Gardens Aglow.
One pass issued for each day the Museum is open (May-October). Reservations can be made for two adults and any number of children under the age of 18. Please download, print, and fill out this form and submit it to the main circulation desk, or fill out the form at the Library. Make sure to have several options for the date and the time you wish to visit in case some days are already booked. Start times can be booked between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. We will process requests within 24 hours of receipt (excluding Sundays).
Pass provides free admission for up to four adults on a reserved date. Museum is currently open from Wednesday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The historic sites (Olson House and Farnsworth Homestead are currently closed to the public). Admission is also free for anyone 16 years old and under.
The pass admits the holder and the occupants of the pass holder’s vehicle to all Maine State Parks and Historic Sites day-use facilities. A 17-person vehicle is the maximum size allowed with the pass. The passes are not accepted at the following locations: Acadia National Park, Allagash Wilderness Waterway, Baxter State Park, Maine Wildlife Park, Peacock Beach, Penobscot Narrows Observatory, Penobscot River Corridor, Scarborough Beach, Songo Lock, or Swan Island. The pass cannot be used toward camping in Maine State Park campgrounds. Pass checks out for five days. If pass is not picked up on the first day of the reservation it will be cancelled.
