Museum Passes

The Patten Free Library offers free or reduced rate passes to PFL Cardholders for the museums and parks listed below.  Visit the Library or call 443-5141 x1011 for more information or to reserve a pass.

Children’s Museum & Theater of Maine

 The Children’s Room issues passes to Library patrons for a specific date; we can only issue one pass per day.  Passes are good for 50% off regular admission price for up to 4 people. To reserve your tickets:

  1.  Go the Children’s Museum “Plan Your Visit” page to check availability through its reservation calendar.
  2.   When you have a chosen a date and time that is free call the Children’s Circulation Desk (443-5141, ext. 1016) to confirm the availability of our pass for your desired date. 
  3.  After reserving our pass, reserve the time and date you’ve chosen for your play session.  Choose the option to pay at the door for your discounted tickets, and fill in the appropriate number of adults and children that will be part of your group.  Add them to the cart and proceed with checkout.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

Passes are good for the regular season (May-October) only.  No passes will be issued for Gardens Aglow.

One pass issued for each day the Museum is open (May-October). Reservations can be made for two adults and any number of children under the age of 18.  Please download, print, and fill out this form and submit it to the main circulation desk, or fill out the form at the Library. Make sure to have several options for the date and the time you wish to visit in case some days are already booked. Start times can be booked between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.   We will process requests within 24 hours of receipt (excluding Sundays).

Farnsworth Museum

Pass provides free admission for up to four adults on a reserved date. Museum is currently open from Wednesday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The historic sites (Olson House and Farnsworth Homestead are currently closed to the public).  Admission is also free for anyone 16 years old and under. 

Maine Maritime Museum

One pass issued for each day the Museum is open. Pass is good for free admission for up to 8 people. 

Maine State Parks

The pass admits the holder and the occupants of the pass holder’s vehicle to all Maine State Parks and Historic Sites day-use facilities.  A 17-person vehicle is the maximum size allowed with the pass. The passes are not accepted at the following locations: Acadia National Park, Allagash Wilderness Waterway, Baxter State Park, Maine Wildlife Park, Peacock Beach, Penobscot Narrows Observatory, Penobscot River Corridor, Scarborough Beach, Songo Lock, or Swan Island. The pass cannot be used toward camping in Maine State Park campgrounds. Pass checks out for five days. If pass is not picked up on the first day of the reservation it will be cancelled.

Portland Museum of Art

One pass issued for each day the Museum is open. Pass is good for free admission for up to 2 adults and 6 children.

Railway Village Museum

The Museum is open from June 18-Indigenous People’s Day

This pass entitles two Adults or Seniors, and all accompanying children and/or grandchildren under 18 to free admission. Additional Adult or Senior visitors will be charged the standard admission price of $15/$12. The museum is officially open from Father’s Day, or June 18th, through Indigenous People’s Day, 2023. Please note, the Museum is closed on Mondays. Library passes are not valid for any special ticketed event or shared fundraising day, including, but not limited to, Antique Auto Day, Fall Foliage Festival, SPOOKtacular, and North Pole Express. The library’s enrollment in the Library Pass program allows you to purchase tickets for pre-ticketed events, such as North Pole Express, for your patrons in advance, as well as at a member discount rate.
