  • Ancestry Library Edition is a lite version of the popular Ancestry.com subscription database. Free access to Ancestry Library Edition is available in public libraries across the country. For a limited time during the COVID-19 epidemic, you can also access Ancestry Library Edition at home through Digital Maine Library.
  • MyHeritage Library Edition is a database of genealogy resources, including census, military, immigration, and other public records. You can access MyHeritage Library Edition at home for free through Digital Maine Library.
  • FamilySearch.org is a free database of family trees, genealogies, eBooks, and other records. Access to most features requires a free account. See our Guide to FamilySearch.org (PDF – Coming Soon!) for helpful tips.
  • Ancestry.com is a popular subscription database. Most features require a paid subscription to access, but there are also many free resources if you know where to look for them. Check out our Guide to Ancestry’s Free Resources (PDF – Updated April 2020) for tips.
