Town History Series: Gift or Purchase? Relation to the Land, Arrowsic 1717

January 22 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

In August 1717 a delegation representing the powerful Wabanaki Confederacy met with the Governor of Massachusetts, Samuel Shute, on the island of Arrowsic.  The meeting which took place over four days, was one of many such negotiations.  But it is unusually well documented, providing rich insights into imperial-indigenous diplomacy at that time.  This talk will be given on Zoom by Sheila Spear.
