In August 1717 a delegation representing the powerful Wabanaki Confederacy met with the Governor of Massachusetts, Samuel Shute, on the island of Arrowsic. The meeting which took place over four days, was one of many such negotiations. But it is unusually well documented, providing rich insights into imperial-indigenous diplomacy at that time.
