A combination of photos and home movies taken by Howard Kirkpatrick, Sr. in the 1930s and 1950s reveals daily life in this antique village in Woolwich. Automobiles passing carriages on River Road, neighbors helping each other with the controlled burning of fields, and some younger playful faces of people you’ll recognize as still living there today. Modern amenities have found their way to Day’s Ferry, but the houses and people have retained the charm for which this special community is known. Presented by Amanda Montgomery Martin and Allison Hepler.

The Town History Series is a long-standing Patten Free Library tradition that brings together Patten Free Library’s member communities to learn about and celebrate each town’s local history. The town of Arrowsic, Bath Historical Society, Georgetown Historical Society, West Bath Historical Society, and Woolwich Historical Society each select a speaker to present on an aspect of their local history. This year’s Town History Series is dedicated to Peter Goodwin, longtime History Room manager and Town History Series creator.
