We are excited to open the submission period for the 8th annual Teen Writing Contest as of August 1. Our very first group of Teen Library Council members came up with the idea for this program, and since that time the number and quality of submissions has grown. We even have a past winner who is now a soon-to-be-published young adult author; more on this later! We love providing an opportunity for aspiring local writers to test their wings and to share their talents.
Open to all students in grades 7-12 who:
- reside in the library service area; or
- attend an R.S.U. 1 school; or
- attend Chop Point School, Hyde School, or Chewonki Middle School;
Submission Period: August 1 to December 4, 2020.
Prizes (in each category): 1st Prize: $100 gift certificate; 2nd Prize: $50 gift certificate

Grades 10-12: Short Fiction (up to 8 pages) or Memoir (up to 4 pages)
