Annual Children’s Lantern Parade! Wednesday, December 19, 4:00pm-5:00pm, all ages. Waltz into winter with this wonderfully sweet, wintry Storytime, lantern-making, craft, refreshments & little parade to the Gazebo where we’ll gather around the Christmas Tree to sing Jingle Bells.
Note to Grownups:
This year, the HP Hood Company, Portland very kindly donated about 100 unused plastic quart-size jugs for the children to use for this special event. We’ll cut and prepare the lanterns for everyone. Please gather in the Storytime Room where children will decorate their lanterns with colored tissue paper, a stained glass window effect. Then, we’ll insert a flameless votive candle into the lantern and place the lantern on a wooden dowel for holding. Once outside, we’ll begin our walk inside the Library Park Gazebo holding the pretty lanterns in the full moonlit night! Dress warmly. Children need to be supervised throughout the entire event. Refreshments served. No registration required.
