“Beanstack” Online Reading Challenges

Patten Free Library is now offering online reading programs for all ages through a platform called Beanstack.  
Think of it as a “Fitbit” for tracking your reading habits!

With Beanstack, you can:

  • Try specific reading challenges.
  • Log any book titles or your reading minutes.
  • Share book reviews with the Patten community.
  • Earn virtual “badges” (and an occasional prize) for reaching reading milestones.

Register on Patten’s Beanstack site to find a challenge and get started.

Here are descriptions of our current reading challenges:

1000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge (for babies/toddlers/pre-schoolers)

Log the books that you read with your little ones with the goal of reading 1000 books before kindergarten. It sounds more daunting than it is. Start logging, and you’ll earn digital badges as you go!

 Chickadee Award Challenge (for grades K-4 and all interested kids and adults)

From now until May 28th (new extended deadline!), read as many of the ’20-21 Chickadee Award nominees as you can. Track your reading online on Beanstack or on a printable log, and you will be entered in our Mockingbird Bookshop drawing.

 
 
 
 
 
 

 Maine Student Book Award Challenge (for grades 4-8, and interested adults)

From now until May 1st (new extended deadline!), read as many of the ’20-21 Maine Student Book Award nominees as you can. Track your reading online on Beanstack or on a printable log and you will be entered in our Mockingbird Bookshop drawing.

 
 
 
 
 
 

The North Star YA Award Challenge (for grades 7-12, and interested adults)

From now until March 31st, read as many of the the ’20-21 North Star YA Award nominees as you can. Track your reading online on Beanstack or on a printable log, and you will be entered in our Mockingbird Bookshop drawing.

 
 
 
 
 

Stack ‘Em Up! (for everyone)

Just want to track and count books as you read them? You can do that too! Earn badges as your tally grows. Stacks on stacks on stacks . . . of books! How many can you read?

 

 

 

 

Read-A-Thon (K-8, and interested adults)

February 28 – March 6.  How many minutes can YOU read during our read-a-thon fundraiser?  Collect Pledges.  Read and keep track on Beanstack.  Earn Prizes.  Have FUN!
