Discover Our On-Line Reading Challenges: Introducing “Beanstack”

Patten Free Library is now offering online reading programs for all ages through a platform called Beanstack.  Think of it as a “Fitbit” for tracking your reading habits!

With Beanstack, you can:

  • Try specific reading challenges;
  • Log any book titles or your reading minutes;
  • Share book reviews with the Patten community;
  • Earn virtual “badges” (and an occasional prize) for reaching reading milestones.

Here are descriptions of our current reading challenges:

1000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge (for babies/toddlers/pre-schoolers)

Log the books that you read with your little ones with the goal of reading 1000 books before kindergarten. It sounds more daunting than it is!

 Maine Student Book Award Challenge (for grades 4-8, and interested adults)

From now until March 31st, read as many of the ’20-21 MSBA nominees as you can. Log them, and you will earn virtual badges and a chance at our Mockingbird Bookshop drawing.

 

 

 

The North Star YA Award Challenge (for grades 7-12, and interested adults)

From now until March 31st, read as many of the the ’20-21 North Star nominees as you can. Log them, and you will earn virtual badges and a chance at our Mockingbird Bookshop drawing.

 

 

 

 Infectious Fiction (for adults and interested teens)

From now until Nov. 30th, read the fictional plague worlds of classic and contemporary authors as they wildly imagine and re-imagine historic, fantastic, and apocalyptic plagues.

 

 

 

 

 

Stack ‘Em Up! (for everyone)

Just want to track and count books as you read them? You can do that too! Earn badges as your tally grows. Stacks on stacks on stacks . . . of books! How many can you read?
