Welcome to the Patten Free Library Children’s Room
Our Storytime program runs throughout the school year, September through May, with a December and June break. It’s a wonderfully fun way to teach your child early socialization and literacy skills. Each age appropriate program is thoughtfully prepared and no registration is required. Parents and caregivers have a chance to make and meet friends too!
After Storytime, you’re welcome to stay and read to your children on our comfy furniture or play with our dollhouse, blocks, Legos, puzzles or head for the coloring table. Look for an amazing array of board books, picture books, early readers, early chapter books, non-fiction and fiction books. While you’re here, climb aboard our little red sailboat, Time of Wonder, built in collaboration with the Library and the Maine Maritime Museum, by area children and master boat builders. While you’re here, get a library card and check out some wonderful books, DVDs, music CDs, books on CD or American Girl Doll kits to take home. Ask about using one of our six early literacy iPads, offering the very best app selections. Our friendly, knowledgeable Children’s Room staff is tops and we love what we do for you and your child, encouraging life-long, passionate readers!
