Bath Book Bash

A Celebration of Children’s Literature at the Patten

When: September 26, 2020

The first Bath Book Bash was a one-day celebration of children’s literature featuring authors and illustrators from Maine and New England.  Originally envisioned as family-friendly outdoor event in Library Park, the festival became a virtual event after the pandemic arrived, with 21 authors contributing fun and imaginative video presentations about their books and stories.

The great thing about a virtual event is that you can still enjoy the author presentations! To navigate to the playlist of all the videos (each about 10-15 minutes long), click here

You can also click here to navigate to the Book Bash web site to browse more information about the participating authors and select individual videos for viewing.  You can also see the videos by subscribing to the Bath Book Bash YouTube channel.

The culminating event of this wonderful day was a live ZOOM presentation with two-time Newbery Medal winner and best-selling children’s author, Lois Lowry.

She was a delightful speaker and talked on a wide range of subjects, including her latest book, On the Horizon, as well as her upcoming release, The Willoughbys Return, and the re-release of Like the Willow Tree (set in 1918 Portland, Maine during the Spanish Flu).

Morse High School senior Nina Powers was also part of the Book Bash, celebrating the recent publication of her first novel, Boy in Bloom.  The Library will be hosting another author event for Nina on Sunday, October 25 in the Gazebo in Library Park.
