Patten Free Library is proud to offer to its patrons the resources of the Sagadahoc History & Genealogy Room. The focus of this research facility is on the communities within Sagadahoc County, although general guides for New England and beyond are available. Genealogists and historians from across the country and Canada use the room's materials either in person or by research request.
The History Room is located on the second floor of the new north wing of the library. It is handicap accessible. Major funding for the Sagadahoc History & Genealogy Room is provided by the Bath Historical Society. Additional funding is given by Sagadahoc Preservation, Inc., and through patron donations and bequests.
Town History Series 2010
Dedicated to Roy Lawrence (1912-2009)
The Sagadahoc History & Genealogy Room announces its 6th annual Town History Series, jointly sponsored by the Patten Free Library and the Bath Historical Society. On six consecutive Saturday mornings, from 10:30-11:30, people from the towns served by the Library will present aspects of their towns’ histories in the Community Room of the Patten Free Library.
We are dedicating this year’s Town History Series to Roy Lawrence, the first speaker in our first Series, and the contributor of more than one thousand images of Bath to the Bath Historical Society’s collections in the History Room.
This year’s Series is being filmed for showing on cable TV in Bath and Phippsburg; DVDs are also available for circulation in the History Room at the Library. Funding for filming and DVD production is provided by Raymond James & Associates, Inc., 1 Portland Square, Portland, ME 04112.
