Summer Storywalk Series #2

July 5 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Let’s Walk Together . . . Wednesday, July 5, 3-4p (Woodlands)

Leaders: Phoebe Thompson, Garreth Helm

Location: Hamilton Audubon Sanctuary, Fosters Point Rd, West Bath

Nature Topic/Focus: Children will explore this pristine nature sanctuary situated on a peninsula between New Meadows River and Back Cove. This is an incredibly diverse ecosystem in a relatively small area, ranging from woodland to salt marsh to tidal flats. Children will learn the names and characteristics of common woodland creatures. They will look for signs of the furry denizens in the form of tracks and scat.

Books: Rabbits, Squirrels and Chipmunks. Mel Boring. Tracks, Scat and Signs. Leslie Dendy.

This program is brought to you by a Merrymeeting Bay Trust Grant. The weekly (16 weeks) Storywalks run from June to October, (fall programs TBA), and are led by Bowdoin College students. Dress appropriately for wooded areas and consider using bug protection. Please ask the Children’s Room staff about our new circulating My Own Backyard (MOBY) themed backpacks and book bags, tools for youth exploration of local natural history.

The Merrymeeting Bay Trust promotes the understanding, awareness, and study of the natural environment surrounding Merrymeeting Bay.
