Storywalk Series (pond)

August 15 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

#9 Tuesday, August 15th 3p-4p (Ponds)

Leaders: TBD, Garreth Helm

Location: Sewell Pond, Arrowsic

Nature Topic/Focus: Sewell Pond has seen a dramatic decline and resurgence in recent years. The pond was decimated by phosphorous until very recently. Stricter environmental regulations have brightened the pond’s future. Children will learn about common pond creatures such as turtles, waterfowl, fish, and amphibians (similar to the Oak Grove Cemetery Storywalk). Under close supervision, children will attempt to collect and identify specimens.

Books: Creekfinding: A true story. Jacqueline Briggs Martin. One Well: The Story of Water on Earth. Rochelle Strauss.
