PAWS for Reading Saturday, April 8. Dog handler, Steph Danahy & her Bernese Mountain dog, Pilot, are available 10:30am-noon, ½ hour time slots, one child per 20 minute, sign up required.
PAWS offers elementary school children the opportunity to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a trained therapy dog. A dog is a loving and attentive audience — another fun reason to visit the Library! Children are empowered to become the teachers, learning vocabulary and comprehension as they explain a story to a new canine friend. Our methods are based on those pioneered by the National R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dogs)program.
