Edible Book Contest and Festival for Grades 6 to 12

Do you like decorating cakes? Love books? You should enter our first ever Edible Book Competition. Our new middle school library group came up with the idea, and we can’t wait to see

Here’s how it works: Pick a favorite book or book cover that will be the subject of your cake. On competition day, you’ll get a plain 8×10-inch sheet cake, a tub of white icing, some food coloring, and basic utensils at your work station.  There will be fondant and other supplies, too.  You’ll get two hours to complete your edible book.  Then we’ll invite the public in to see your creations, as well as a team of judges.  There will be prizes!

How to enter:  You can register alone or in a team of up to three people.  Up to eight individuals/teams can participate. Register by June 1 at the Library’s Information Desk.

Questions?  Want to register? Contact Roberta Jordan at the Library (rjordan@patten.lib.me.us, 443-5141, ext. 25).  Want to see the full contest guidelines? Click here. Open to all 6th to 12th graders in the Library service area (and those with a valid library card.)
