- The Chickadee Award is a Maine children's choice book project for children in kindergarten through fourth grade and is named after Maine's state bird. It is intended to complement the Maine Student Book Award program that involves students in grades four through eight.
Our goal is for students to develop an appreciation of outstanding writing and illustrations in current children's picture books by
participating in this program. We hope they will become discriminating readers by voting for their favorite book.
A curriculum guide that includes activities, complimentary books, author & illustrator biographical sketches is available.
