The Saturday Club
Patten Free Library started a new initiative called the Saturday Club in the fall of 2007 to raise money to keep the Library open 40 Saturdays between September and May. The Library is now open year round on Saturdays. For a donation of $300, a business or individual can sponsor a Saturday to promote a business, honor a loved one, or recognize a birthday or anniversary. Each sponsor will receive signage at each entrance to the Library for the week before the sponsored Saturday, recognition on the Library's homepage, counter space for display materials, and year-round recognition on the Saturday Club webpage, on a Library bulletin board and within the Library's Annual Report.
Leading off the Saturday Club for 2009, Bath Iron Works sponsored eight Saturdays in January and February. Other sponsors in 2009 were David Barber, David Miller, Lynne and Dana Gilliam, Jorgensen Landscaping, Reed & Reed, Weiss Law Office, The Trustees of PFL, The Times Record, Dr. Thomas G. Rice, and one anonymous donor.
