Town History Series 2010 Dedicated to Roy Lawrence (1912-2009)

Roy, a nearly life-long resident of Bath and long-term employee of Bath Iron Works, was also an ardent photographer who recorded much of Bath’s history in color slides taken mostly during the decades of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. During that period Roy gave many talks at various organizations throughout the City; two of those talks, "Bath: Past and Present" and "Bath's Churches and Schools," are available in CD format in the Sagadahoc History and Genealogy Room. Bath Historical Society is working on digitizing Roy’s complete collection of more than 1000 donated to the Society in 2004. In 2005, Roy gave the first Town History Series talk to an audience of approximately 80 people. This year's dedication is in honor of that bar-setting event and in recognition of Roy’s invaluable contribution to preserving Bath’s history.
