movie: MINE TGIF Film Series Continues with “MINE”
Friday, January 8th
1:30pm
in PFL's Community Room

"The best movie I saw during the week-long SXSW Film Festival!" -- Karen Valby, Entertainment Weekly

USA | 2009 | Documentary | English Language | Running time 100 minutes

Synopsis:
MINE is a feature-length, independent documentary about the essential bond between humans and animals, set against the backdrop of one of the worst natural disasters in modern U.S. history: Hurricane Katrina. This gripping, character-driven story follows New Orleans residents as they attempt the daunting task of trying to reunite with their pets who have been adopted by families all over the country, and chronicles the custody battles that arise when two families love the same pet. Who determines the fate of the animals—and the people—involved? A compelling meditation on race, class and the power of compassion, MINE examines how we treat animals as an extension of how we view and treat each other.

Town History Series 2010

The Sagadahoc History & Genealogy Room announces its 6th annual Town History Series, jointly sponsored by the Patten Free Library and the Bath Historical Society. On six consecutive Saturday mornings, from 10:30-11:30, people from the towns served by the Library will present aspects of their towns’ histories in the Community Room of the Patten Free Library.
We are dedicating this year’s Town History Series to Roy Lawrence, the first speaker in our first Series, and the contributor of more than one thousand images of Bath to the Bath Historical Society’s collections in the History Room.
